"Sam George DStv Statement

Ghana’s Parliament has issued a strong warning to Multichoice, operators of DStv, regarding continuous increases in subscription fees that have left many citizens frustrated.

According to Member of Parliament Sam George, if DStv fails to adjust its pricing model to suit the Ghanaian market, the government will consider suspending their operating licence. “Ghanaians are not cash cows. We cannot sit and allow such monopoly to rob our citizens,” he said.

Sam George is calling for immediate regulatory intervention by the National Communications Authority (NCA) to ensure that cable providers operate transparently and fairly. He also criticized the lack of alternative options in the market, which allows providers like DStv to exploit customers unchecked.

As consumers call for price reviews and alternatives, the government’s move is seen as a push toward protecting citizens from growing digital service costs.
